The Guide to Refreshing Your Eyes: Treating Crow’s Feet with Botox

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul—but they are also usually the first place to show the signs of a life well-lived. Whether they appear when you’re laughing, squinting in the sun, or even just resting, Crow’s Feet (or Lateral Canthal Lines) are one of the most common reasons patients visit us at Brook Aesthetics.

If you’ve noticed these lines becoming more permanent, here is everything you need to know about treating them with Botox.

What are Crow’s Feet?

Crow’s Feet are the fine lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes. Unlike the "11 lines" between your brows, which are caused by frowning, Crow's feet are primarily caused by the Orbicularis Oculi muscle.

This is a circular muscle that wraps around your eye. Every time you smile, squint, or blink, this muscle contracts, eventually etching lines into the skin.

How Botox Works for the Eye Area

Botox doesn’t "fill" these lines; it gently relaxes the tension in the Orbicularis Oculi muscle. By placing a few precise injections at the outer tail of the eye, we reduce the strength of the contraction.

The Result: Your skin remains smooth when you smile, but—crucially—your smile still looks like yours.

"Will I look frozen when I smile?"

This is the #1 question I get in my Lisburn clinic. The goal is never to "freeze" the face.

By injecting the Botox superficially and staying away from the muscles that lift the cheeks, we ensure that your cheeks still rise naturally when you laugh. You’ll just notice that the "crinkling" at the corners is softened.

Why Choose a Clinical Setting?

The skin around the eyes is incredibly delicate. Choosing a clinic led by a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber means your treatment is backed by a deep understanding of facial anatomy and medicine safety.

At Brook Aesthetics, we prioritise:

  1. Discretion: A private, professional environment.

  2. Safety: Full clinical consultations and medical-grade products.

  3. Subtlety: We aim for the "Have you been on holiday?" look, not the "What have you had done?" look.

Post-Treatment Care

To get the best out of your "eye refresh," remember the golden rules:

  • No rubbing: Avoid rubbing your eyes for 24 hours.

  • Stay upright: Keep your head elevated for 4 hours post-treatment.

  • Sun protection: Botox prevents the lines from muscle movement, but SPF prevents the lines from UV damage. They are the perfect team.
